POLICE have taken action after reports of illegal 'Fast & Furious-style' car racing took place in Northwich.

Officers were dispatched to King Street, near the Morrisons Distribution Centre, at around 11.30pm on June 4 when an illegal car meet was taking place.

A nearby resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, reported the incident to police after fearing for the safety of other road users.

He said: “This took place between the two roundabouts from the Morrisons Distribution Centre on King Street and the connecting roundabout on the A556, with the two circles being the ends of an oval loop circuit.

“Multiple vehicles were seen racing with significant numbers watching.

“Scores of cars were parked obstructing the Morrisons entrance and the racing affected the safety of normal road users trying to get from Middlewich onto the A556."

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed: “At 11.32pm on Saturday, June 4, police were called to an illegal car meet on King Street, Northwich, near to Morrisons Distribution Centre.

“Officers attended the scene, and the road was closed while all the vehicles were ordered to disperse from the area.
