HUNDREDS of residents in Halebank enjoyed a beacon lighting to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee.
The community paraded down to Pickering Pasture on Thursday, along Mersey View Road following the Clan Wallace Pipe Band marching to the sound of bagpipes and drums.
At 9.40pm a proclamation was read by Parish Council Chair Terry Colquitt and then the beacon was lit by ward councillor Mike Wharton to the cheers of the onlookers.
The event was organised and funded by Halebank Parish Council with the support of businesses Jefferson Construction and Lavis Engineering.
There were more than 20 volunteer stewards who helped on the night.
Parish councillor John Maxwell said: “A fantastic musical accompaniment by the Liverpool William Wallace Pipe Band rounded off the event which was witnessed by hundreds of Halebankers old and young.
“It is hoped the Jubilee Beacon will be a permanent feature at Pickerings Pasture and will be there as a focal point to celebrate future events of both national and local importance.
