PLATINUM Jubilee celebrations in Cheshire may be dampened by thunderstorms tomorrow, Sunday.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms covering the entire north west region.
The warning will come into force tomorrow at midnight tomorrow and will be in place until 6pm.
According to forecasters, the thunderstorms may cause travel disruption and flooding in a few places.
The government's 'check for flooding' website reveals that the flood warning has risen from 'very low' to 'low'.
It says: "It’s possible but not expected that runoff from rainfall or blocked drains will cause properties and roads to flood."
The Met Office has warned what to expect:
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life and some communities might become cut off if roads flood
- Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
The warning was issued at 10am this morning, Saturday.
