AVANTI West Coast in Runcorn is set to host an array of festivities to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The team are welcoming residents for a Picnic on the Piazza event on Sunday, June 5 between 12pm and 4pm to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne.

Customers and members of the community can bring their own picnic.

The likes of including St Peter and Paul’s High School samba band, as well as artists, will entertain the crowd.

They will even be treated to a slice of Victoria sponge and giveaways, including chocolates wrapped in Union Jack colours.

The event is designed to raise money for Halton Skies and Halton Haven Hospice and there will be a raffle and competitions. Local businesses and organisations will also have pop-up shops.

Joanna Buckley, community manager at Avanti West Coast, said: “We congratulate Her Majesty the Queen as she celebrates the 70th Anniversary of her reign and are proud to be playing our part to mark this special occasion. We’re excited to bring communities together to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by championing British pastimes, as well as showcasing regional talent and businesses, while helping local causes.

“At Avanti West Coast we want to connect people and places – whether they’re travelling to Jubilee celebrations on our route or joining us for a picnic and slice of cake, we look forward to welcoming everyone and hope the festivities make it a memorable weekend.”
