A  Northwich pub is paying tribute to the continuity and longevity of the Queen's reign - by changing its name.

The Clock Tower has  temporarily rebadged itself the 'Queen Elizabeth' to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Signs covering the original name have been placed outside the pub and on  the main road sign in order to mark the Queen's 70-year milestone

"We wanted to do something really visible as a mark of respect," said Jess Lucas, of the Joseph Hole food house.

"The Clock Tower is very much in the centre of our local community and we really wanted to send out the message that the pub and the brewery salute the Queen on her incredible reign.

"What better way to do this than name the pub Queen Elizabeth after Her Majesty."

The Clock Tower will also be serving  Jubilee ale which has been specially produced by brewery  Joseph Holt to mark the occasion.

The pale, fruity  limited edition cask ale  has a clean bitter finish with a sparky pineapple twist.

On Saturday (June 4) the pub will also be hosting an outdoor bar as well as a bouncy castle with all money raised going towards the Joseph Holt Annual charity appeal which this year is raising funds for local food banks.

The Clock Tower will only revert back from the Queen Elizabeth to its original name at the end of the week after the Jubilee.

Jess added: "The platinum jubilee really is a once in a lifetime occasion and we want to do all we can to pay tribute to the Queen and all she stands for.

"That's why we're forgoing our name for Queen Elizabeth."
