LANES remains closed on the M6 southbound this morning, Wednesday, following a caravan fire in the early hours, with 50 minutes of delays.

The incident happened just after midnight (June 1) between junction 19 for Knutsford and junction 18 for Middlewich and Holmes Chapel.

Two lanes remain closed for resurfacing.

Earlier this morning there were originally 20 minutes of delays and three miles of congestion as traffic was held in both directions.

There are now long delays of 50 minutes above usual journey times with eight miles of congestion leading back to junction 20a for the M56 approaching the lane closures.
