A TEENAGER who attacked a young woman with a zombie knife, an escaped prisoner and a pervert pensioner are among the Mid Cheshire defendants to appear in court over the last week.

A TEENAGER on a night out with his mum went ‘completely berserk’ and attacked a young woman with a ‘zombie knife’ outside a bar in Northwich.

A crown court judge said there could easily have been a fatality when Joshua Clow repeatedly slashed his victim with the ‘absolutely horrific’ weapon, leaving her with deep cuts, in need of stitches and left with permanent scarring.

Clow, 18, of Brookcot Road in Manchester, appeared in Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, where he was sentenced to six years in jail for wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article and assault.

A PENSIONER who downloaded hundreds of indecent images of children has avoided an immediate prison sentence.

Paul Harris, of Beechfield in Moulton, appeared at Chester Crown Court on May 23 where he was handed an eight-month sentence, suspended for 12 months.

The 76-year-old pleaded guilty to downloading a total of 539 indecent images of children between November 21, 2021, and January 23 this year.

Two of the images were classed as the most serious (category A), eight were category B and 527 of them were category C.

A 21-YEAR-OLD who escaped from prison while serving four years for an attempted robbery in Rudheath has had eight months added onto his sentence.

Jack Joynson, previously of Middlewich Road but now residing in HMP Altcourse, absconded from HMP Kirkham on April 18 and police appealed to the public for help in locating him - saying not to approach him as he 'could be violent'.

Joynson was originally sentenced in 2020 for attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

A PERSISTANT shoplifter has been banned from shops across Northwich and Winsford after a spate of thefts.

Steven John Owen, of Victoria House, stole a variety of products from several stores, including Pringles from Lidl and coffee from Sainsbury’s.

The 52-year-old was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, May 23, where he was listed to go on trial for using threatening and abusive words against a person at Chester Way Retail Park.

However, Owen, who also uses the alias Gary Eagles, changed his plea to one of guilty on the day.

A BANNED driver has been jailed after he failed to stop for police on roads in Northwich and Winsford.

Ashley Duhaney, of no fixed abode, but previously of Lock Lane, Partington, in Greater Manchester, was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court via video-link on Monday, May 23.

The 35-year-old, who was jailed last week for dealing Class A drugs in Devon, was spotted by police driving an Audi A3 on May 2, 2021.

Officers observed him driving without due care and attention on Hall Lane and Manchester Road in Northwich before he continued to do the same en route to Winsford.

A MAN has been banned from the road after being almost six times over the drug driving limit.

Russell Sneddon, of Manor Park South, Knutsford, admitted to drug driving at Manchester Magistrates Court on May 23.

The 29-year-old was driving a Skoda Fabia on King Street, Knutsford, on December 18, last year, when stopped by police.

A PASSENGER who failed to pay for a train fare to Bath has been hit with a £450 court bill.

Georgina Axton, of Heath Drive, Knutsford, was unable to produce a valid ticket when asked by an inspector from First Great Western on November 4, last year.

The 27-year-old had failed to pay a fare of £17.40 to travel to Bath Spa, North Somerset Magistrates Court heard on May 20.

A DRIVER caught speeding has avoided a ban because his employees and elderly mum ‘would suffer’.

Jamie Kerner, of Knutsford Road, Alderley Edge, pleaded guilty at Manchester Magistrates Court on April 25 to exceeding a 50mph speed limit on July 8, last year.

The 52-year-old was caught driving a Volkswagen at 60mph by a speed camera on the M60 in Stockport, the court heard.
