AN after-school care provision at a Winsford primary school is allowing children to create ‘magical memories’ as they learn all about nature and get to grips with forest skills.

Footprints in the Forest is a new childcare provision at Darnhall Primary School.

The children can choose from a homely feel inside, or to be active in the forest.

They learn how to use tools safely, light fires, build dens, and explore the natural environment.

Headteacher Sarah Tomlinson explained: “We have worked with Alexandra Pagonis in classes this year, delivering forest school lessons and decided to approach her to run the after-school care as the children here really love the forest school approach.

“It is proving very popular with our families.”

Staff at the Sandyhill Road school added the pupils are loving the 'freedom and magical memories' that the forest school is bringing.

One pupil, aged 10, said: “I love going as we get great snacks, play with our friends and learn new skills.”
