NORTHWICH racer Ian Loggie and his team will be looking to put Silverstone behind them as they focus on the next round of the British GT Championship at Donington next weekend, writes Ste McNorton.

Loggie, new co-driver Callum MacLeod were hoping to build on a great first round in the RAM Racing AMG Mercedes GT3 at Oulton Park as they took on iconic Silverstone in round two.

The No6 was always going to challenge as the sweeping curves of the famous track really suits the Mercedes.

Qualifying was a combined result across the professional and amateur drivers and in glorious conditions Loggie and MacLeod put the Mercedes on the third row in fifth for Sunday's three-hour endurance race.

With the usual rolling start, the No6 Mercedes got off great guns and held position, but unfortunately on the second lap a coming together, which was no fault of Loggie, resulted in the car sustaining serious suspension and bodywork damage.

As the car rolled into the pits the extent of the damage was realised.

The team jacked up the car and rolled it into the garage, but 10 laps passed before the car returned to the track and that was the race over for them.

They eventually finished a lonely 27th on a weekend to forget.
