BARNTON FC Juniors under 14s are having quite a season and making the club chairman proud.

Three trophies are in the bag and the hunt for the Mid-Cheshire Youth League title is ongoing.

One of the knockout successes broke new ground, with the under 14s side becoming Barnton's first to win the Cheshire Cup.

"They have become one big family and I’m sure they’ll be mates for life," said chairman Dave Bryning.

"That’s what makes me proud. Making memories that will last a lifetime."

Barnton drew with Frodsham Town 2-2 before winning the penalty shootout 7-6 to lift the Mid-Cheshire District Cup at Barnton FC in March.

That most recent silverware lift took Barnton into a run of eight league games in 24 days as they bid for a quadruple.

"Most of the current under 14s team have been together since the age six, with a few additions added over the years," said Bryning.

"They have developed into a fantastic group of lads, who just want to improve every week.

"Each year they seem to go up another level and that’s a credit to the boys.

"Back in the summer of 2018 they won Egerton FC's tournament and they have not looked back since.

"In 2020 they were into their first League Cup Final and sitting top of the league, when Covid struck.

"As we all know it was uncertain times and difficult for everyone to adapt.

"It was a new challenge for us to keep in touch and to keep the lads going as best as we could.

"We had online presentations and challenges before we could finally meet up again. Roll on two years and they have just secured an unbelievable treble.

"Oh and they still have a chance to win the league. Eight games in 24 days is the next challenge. Let’s wait and see."

He added: "I would personally like to thank Steve Woods, Neal Salomon and John Astles for their continued support. Without them, this team doesn’t function.

"Finally I would like to thank all our sponsors and families for everything they’ve done for the boys and continue to do."
