TREES and shrubs have been planted across Winsford Town Park in honour of two community groups.
Winsford Salt Sisters WI has planted a Mountain Ash in Town Park, in celebration of the WI's centenary.
A favourite of parks and gardens, it will offer year-round interest – a ‘wonderful foliage, flowers and a fine display of ornamental berries’.
Meanwhile, a group from Mid-Cheshire Mind has planted up a bed in the park with a variety of perennials.
The newly-planted bed represents a 'Celebration of Life', and is for those affected by bereavement.
Jo Fawcett, the park's horticulturalist, selected sedums, salvias, heucheras, geums, and golden berberis, which will provide all-year-round colour and ground cover as the plants establish themselves.
In due course, plaques will be set in place for the Mind bed and the WI tree.
