THOUSANDS of people paid a visit to the moon after it landed in the town last weekend.

Just under 6,000 took in the lunar landscape when the spectacular Museum of the Moon spent three days hanging in the Plaza.

The award-winning artwork was just one of many of the amazing events that took place as part of Now Northwich.

Jon Houghton, venue manager at the Plaza said it was a huge honour for the historic former cinema and bingo hall to play host to such a globe-trotting attraction.

He said: "We had just shy of 6000 people come and see the moon over the weekend, which was amazing to see for Northwich and the surrounding area.

"The moon is a magical art installation, and thankfully with the right crew it was assembled very smoothly.

"The reaction was very interesting to see.

"We had some people walk in and burst into tears straight away, others that just were in silence, and a few that instantly went for the selfie holding the moon!

"Once we'd seen people read the information on the art piece, which highlighted where else the moon was going, the fact that Northwich was listed alongside Germany, New York, Canada is an amazing achievement for the town and the team behind Now Northwich."

The award-winning artwork has already been showcased in more than 30 countries and experienced by over three million people across the world.

Jon added: "The whole team were hugely honored to be able to host the moon for Now Northwich, it's something that will go down in the building's history for certain.

"It was also an amazing excuse to open the doors for everyone to pop in and see the Plaza.

"The love and support for the building is certainly there from the people of Northwich."
