SPECIAL spring flowering trees have been planted at Tatton Park to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.
The ceremony was held as part of the unique Queen’s Green Canopy initiative to people, communities and organisations across the UK to plant a tree for the jubilee.
The mayor of Cheshire East Cllr Sarah Pochin and leader of Cheshire East Council Cllr Sam Corcoran, both helped the park's head gardener and his team with the planting.
Simon Tetlow, Tatton Park’s head gardener, has sourced spring flowering trees and shrubs such as Japanese Crab Apple and Rowan, as well as several Cornus (Dogwood) species.
They have been planted in a picturesque spot in the gardens called Golden Brook, close to the internationally renowned Japanese garden.
Simon said: “These new plantings will create a wonderful legacy in honour of the Queen’s leadership of the nation.
“They will flower forever at this jubilee time for the benefit of our current and future generations of visitors to Tatton’s gardens.”
