A NORTHWICH man has been arrested after armed police were called to a street in the town.

Officers were called at 3.50pm today (April 14) following reports of a domestic disturbance at an address off London Road.

Police patrols arrived at the scene and carried out a search of the area, with officers also reported to be seen in Middlewich Road and James Street.

A 24-year-old man was taken into custody and is currently being quizzed by officers.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called at 3.50pm following reports of a domestic disturbance at an address off London Road, Northwich.

"Patrols, supported by firearms officers, attended the scene and made a search of the area.

"A 24-year-old man from Northwich was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon and assault.

"He is currently in custody being questioned by officers."
