A CHESHIRE slimmer is back to feeling like her old self after dropping four stone and six dress sizes.

Lisa Miller joined a Slimming World club in Delamere Community Centre after gaining weight during lockdown.

The 48-year-old went back up to a size 18 during the pandemic and it resulted in her losing the energy she needed to carry out her much-loved volunteering work in Tarporley.

She said: “After going back to a size 18 during lockdown I wanted to get back to a 12 so joined Slimming World.

“Losing the weight gives me the energy to do my volunteering.

“I couldn't have done it the size I was.

“I had no energy, but now have a lot more, my eating habits have changed and by keep coming to the group, it keeps you on track.

“It's a great little family and you meet lots of good friends, and the consultant is funny.

Like many, Lisa had tried a host of different ways to lose weight over the years.

“I've done Slim Fast in the past, but obviously it's not a healthy way to live and the weight goes back on when you stop,” she added.

“Then I've done Slimming World for years on and off.

“I'm 48 now and the turning point was I couldn't go up another dress size.

“I felt horrible in my own body.

“I've become more confident now I've lost the weight and devote my time in volunteering in my local village.”

Consultant Julie Large, who also runs groups in Northwich Cricket Club, began her own weight-loss journey later in life and is now keen to help and encourage others to do the same.

"I do find when people struggle, and we all do, it's not all plain sailing, one of the beliefs older women is it's their age that is the reason for not losing weight.

"But it's not that at all.

"It's the food and everyone should know that it doesn't matter what time of life you start, you can change your life.

If you're interested in joining one of Julie's groups, they take place at Delamere Community Centre on a Wednesday at 5.30pm and 7pm and Thursday mornings at 9.30am and 11.30am.

She also runs clubs at Northwich Cricket Club on a Friday morning at 9.30am and 11.30am.
