FOR many of us, Friday night is the designated go-to evening for a chippy tea.
And with Good Friday arguably one of the most popular days of the year to partake in the British classic, we have chosen five of your favourites chippies in town.

This town centre staple has been frying fish for years and has the added bonus of a dining option inside.

3. The Jolly Roger Fish Bar, Kingsmead Square
"Lovely fish, good chips, and service with a smile! I’ll be back" said one reviewer to the Jolly Roger.
4. The English Chip Shop, Chester Road, Castle AKA Ye Olde Chippy, AKA Castle Chippy
Unofficially it goes by many names but one thing is for certain - mouthwatering fish and chips await at this place, with one reviewer describing it quite simply as a 'good old fashioned chippy'.
5. Lucky Petes', Winnington
In a recent reader vote, this local icon received by far the most votes as your favourite.
They've been serving the battered goods here since 1984 and there will no doubt be a snaking queue out of the door on Friday evening.
