A NORTHWICH man has raised more than £10,000 for charity after completing a mammoth walk from John O'Groats to Lands End.
Ben Stoddart completed the massive 820-mile route in just 31 days.
The 28-year-old began his epic journey in the Scottish town on March 1, with a plan to walk the equivilant of a marathon every day (26.5 miles).
Despite saying he wanted to quit after just three days, Ben somehow found the will-power to plod on and raised an incredible amount for Mind - the mental health charity.
As he explained to the Guardian part-way through the walk, getting out in the fresh air helps his own mental wellbeing.
"I've had my own mental health battles, but not as bad as others," he said.
"I think everyone needs to look after their mental health.
"I've also been close to people who have suffered really badly with it.
"One thing I found whenever I'm feeling crap is to get out in the fresh air and do some walking, exercise, or a bit of sport, and that perks me up a bit.
"Because that makes me feel brighter I thought I'd try and push it a bit further than normal."
Ben received plenty of support throughout his staggering journey, with friends and family helping him along the way.
Towards the end of his gruelling trip, he even got a message of praise from England cricketer Zak Crawley.
He posted to Instagram: "I've heard you're reaching the end now mate.
"I just wanted to send a message to say I respect you massively and keep pushing through and finish the job.
"What you're doing is fantastic and for such a great cause.
"Everyone is really grateful and respects you massively."
On completing his massive adventure, Ben was quick to thank others for their help.
He said: "I have never felt support like it in my life. I’m so exhausted physically and mentally.
"I wanted to quit from day three onwards but all of you just kept me going and going and we made it!
"I owe you all so so much. Thank you."
At the time of writing, Ben had managed to raise a staggering £10,335 for Mind.
