DOZENS of children from around the town are set to be recognised for their positive behaviour.

Northwich Local Policing Unit are holding an event next week to reward children for their outstanding work in the community.

Approximately 50 children, aged between 2-16, will be receiving a recognition award - a gift-wrapped Easter egg and a certificate from police officers to reward them for their fantastic work.

The event will take place at the LPU in Northwich, and PC Panda will also be in attendance to meet the children.

Among the work carried out by the children, ranges from litter picking every weekend, improving behaviour within the community and charity work - including one year four child raising £13,000 for Cancer Research in memory of a family member.

The recipients of the eggs will be invited to the police station on Monday and Tuesaday, April 11 and 12, where they will be present with their eggs and a certificate of recognition.

One hundred and fifty eggs have been donated by several local stores as well as Northwich town council.

Some of the examples of activities that the awards are being presented for are:

• Fund raising in the community.

• Community work

• Good Citizen

• Running a marathon for shelter

• Litter picking every weekend

• Walking 5k for suicide prevention/ mental health.

• For providing lunches for vulnerable people

• Charity work in aid of Tiny Steps

• Raising £13,000 for Cancer Research

• Helping out at Rainbows club

• Improve behaviour within the community

• Baking cakes for charity, with the money going towards Ukraine
