A WARRANT has been issued for a Northwich man to begin a jail term after he failed to show up at court.

Damien John Harmon, of Lilac Drive, was not present at Chester Magistrates Court, where he was sentenced for several offences.

The 41-year-old had already admitted taking a Mercedes without consent, driving while disqualified and stealing a bank card belonging to a woman.

He was due back in court to be sentenced on Tuesday, April 5, but didn't turn up.

Harmon took the Mercedes B180 from an address in Beswicks Road on November 8 last year, without the consent of the owner, and despite already being banned from driving.

He also stole a bank card from an address in Weaverham on the same date.

Harmon pleaded guilty to those three charges and another of driving with no insurance at a hearing on March 4.

Although he failed to show up at court to discover his fate, magistrates imposed a six-month custodial sentence.

Giving their reasons for the sentence, the bench indicated the offences were so serious and that Harmon had a history of not complying with previous orders imposed by the court.

Once arrested by police, Harmon will head straight behind bars to begin the six-month prison sentence.

He was also disqualified from driving for an additional 21 months.

The bench also ordered that he pay £85 in costs and a surcharge of £22 to fund victim services.
