A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been banned from the road after being caught drink driving.
Gavin Scragg, of Hulme Lane in Nether Peover, was handed a 17-month disqualification when he appeared at Stockport Magistrates Court on Monday, April 4.
The 43-year-old was driving his Land Rover in the east Cheshire village of Snelson on March 12, when he was stopped by police.
Officers breathalysed Scragg and he blew a reading of namely 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
He pleaded guilty to the charge, which magistrates took into account when handing out their punishment.
As well as being disqualified from driving for 17 months, Scragg must also pay a fine of £384.
There were further charges, including paying £85 in costs and a £34 surcharge to fund victim services.
The disqualification period will be reduced by 17 weeks if Scragg decides to complete an driver’s awareness course.
