WITTON Albion are still in the fight to avoid relegation.
This is thanks to a 3-2 home win against in-form Morpeth Town in the Northern Premier League on Tuesday night.
Carl Macauley's side will head to 11th-placed Lancaster City on Saturday knowing they need every point they can muster to continue a possible great escape.
A loss at the menacingly named Giant Axe could see them drop out of the Premier Division and join 1874 Northwich in the NPL West Division next season.
Albion remain in an automatic relegation place second from bottom of the table, eight points adrift of Basford and nine behind Gainsborough Trinity with just four games to play.
Joe Mwasile's 87th-minute winner against Morpeth gives Witton some faint hope though.
He fought off the challenge of a defender before firing past goalkeeper Dan Lowson.
Albion were in position to stake a claim for all three points at home for the first time this year thanks to a brilliant curling free kick from Jim Lawrie that levelled matters in the 63rd minute.
It was a characterful fightback by Witton after conceding twice in four minutes early in the second half.
Keeper Greg Hall was adjudged to have fouled inside the box and Liam Noble was on the mark from the penalty spot to level the scores at 1-1.
And then Hall's mistake at losing possession provided Ben Ramsey with a gift as the visitors nudged in front.
Will Jones had given Witton a 16th-minute lead, hitting the mark after Jawad Jebrin won the ball in the box and laid it back.
