AN international dance and street arts festival in Northwich is calling for volunteers to be part of its 2022 event next month.

With previous events drawing in audiences of more than 26,000, Now Northwich organisers Cheshire Dance are asking people to join the team over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Now Northwich returns on Saturday, April 30, with eight different sites across Northwich town centre welcoming performances from internationally acclaimed artists.

There will be dance, acrobatics, street performances, live music, interactive workshops, artisan food and drink, and the headliner, Museum of the Moon.

Jane McLean, creative director at Cheshire Dance, said: “As a volunteer, you are key to the success of the event by being an ambassador for Northwich and by helping visitors to enjoy both the programme and the town itself.

“For this year’s event we have a number of roles available on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

“If you would like to help and can spare time between 10am and 10pm on Saturday, April 30, or 10am and 6pm on Sunday, May 1, or Monday, May 2, we want to hear from you.”

For this year’s festival, Now Northwich is seeking street ambassadors, artist runners, evaluators and arts and crafts assistants.

Most roles will require a good level of mobility, including being on your feet for long periods of time, and volunteers must be over 18 years of age.

A full briefing session will take place before the event and support will be provided.

Cllr Sam Naylor, mayor of Northwich added: “Now Northwich has become a much-loved event in our town and one of the most popular dates in our calendar.

“I couldn’t be more excited, and I urge anyone with free time over this bank holiday weekend to get involved.”

The event forms part of the Reopening and Recovery programme, funded by the Government’s Additional Restrictions Grant to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Additional investment for Now Northwich 2022 comes from Arts Council England, Northwich Town Council, Northwich BID, Barons Quay, Charcoalblue, Encirc and via Cheshire West and Chester Council Member’s budgets.

Now Northwich (part of the Without Walls Touring Partnership Network) is produced by Cheshire Dance in collaboration with Cheshire West and Chester Council, Northwich Town Council, Northwich BID and Barons Quay.
