A MAN who tied up his friend and tortured him over a stolen tin of chicken curry, was just one of the defendants jailed this week.

In what was another busy time of it in courts across Cheshire, a burglar who helped himself to £26,000 worth of stock in Handforth was another sent behind bars.

But as always, there were plenty of others to appear in the dock and here is a roundup of them from the last seven days:

A KNUTSFORD man tied up his friend and 'tortured' him for more than two hours after they fell out over a stolen tin of chicken curry.

Stuart Paul McPhee, of Longridge, falsely imprisoned Daniel Edwards in his flat, after parading him around the estate with his hands tied, in a bid to humiliate him.

After beating him with sticks, the 46-year-old then cut him with a knife and poured bleach into the wound, which a judge said was 'akin to torture'.

McPhee was sentenced to serve 32 months in prison for the offence, which took place on February 18 last year.

Dad jailed for his part in double burglary which saw £52k of beauty stock stolen

A MAN has been jailed for his part in a double burglary at a commercial beauty property in Handforth.

Harrison Pratt took items worth around £26,000 in the burglary on Commercial Avenue between January 1-5, 2001.

The 24-year-old was appearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday, March 25, where he was sentenced to serve 20 months behind bars.

Mark Connor, prosecuting, told the court how Pratt had been charged with entering Current Body Limited, via the roof on two seperate occasions during the period.

Unlicensed driver facing 'considerable' jail time after causing fatal crash

A UNLICENSED driver has admitted causing the death of an Oakmere man by dangerous driving.

Mark Taylor was behind the wheel of a Honda Accord when he collided with two other vehicles.

One of those was being driven by a 59-year-old man from Oakmere, was taken to hospital, where he sadly died of his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle also suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Taylor, of Railway Street in Crewe, was appearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday, March 25, where he entered guilty pleas to all charges.

Northwich man facing trial after denying he sexually touched teenage girl

A MAN from Northwich faces a trial after denying he sexually touched a teenage girl.

Peter Griffith, of Albemarle Avenue in Hartford, entered not guilty pleas to a string of charges made against him.

He was appearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday, March 25.

It is alleged the 50-year-old sexually touched the girl, aged either 14 or 15 at the time, on four separate occasions between June 2019 and September 2020.

Griffith also denied a fifth charge of inciting the same girl to touch him sexually during the same time period.

Winsford man jailed following unprovoked road rage attack

A MAN from Winsford has been jailed after carrying out an unprovoked road rage attack.

Dylan Munro, of Aston Avenue, was sent to prison for eight weeks after attacking another man on September 12 last year.

The 27-year-old carried out the attack in Crewe, and according to magistrates it was so serious, it was only deserving of custody as a punishment.

Munro was appearing at Crewe Magistrates Court on Monday, March 21, where he pleaded guilty to the single charge of assault by beating.

Man avoids jail after attacking woman and bombarding her with unwanted attention

A WINSFORD man has been handed a suspended sentence after he assaulted a woman before going on to bombard her with unwanted attention.

Daniel Robertson, of Plantagenet Close, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault when he appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on February 18.

That charge related to an incident that took place on January 22 this year when Robertson carried out an unprovoked attack on his victim.

The 42-year-old was back in the same court on Friday, March 18, to be sentenced for that and to another charge of harassment.

Man jailed after threatening woman with kitchen knife in Winsford

A WINSFORD man has been jailed after he threatened a woman with a kitchen knife.

Nicolas Marsh, of Saville Court, also made threats to smash the windows and house of her parents during a scary incident in January.

The 25-year-old was given a 15-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to the terrifying offences.

Marsh was appearing at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, March 22, where he was sentenced on a total of three charges.
