LILY Lofthouse netted the winner for Winnington Park Hockey Club's women's team as they defeated Southport 2-1.

Both teams were evenly matched and cancelled each other out, with very few chances being created in a first half that ended 0-0.

Park broke the deadlock through Helen Fowler halfway through the second half.

Southport equalised with 10 minutes to go, but Lofthouse had the final word.

Park's men drew 2-2 with Oxton's seconds.

Chris Moss scored the opener and the equaliser for Park.

In their final match of the season, Park women's seconds lost 4-0 at Wilmslow with the scoreline not a reflection on how the team have played this season.

They raced out of the blocks and enjoyed lots of possession and chances early on.

Park then contained Wilmslow pressure before a goal from a short corner saw them trail 1-0 at half time.

A couple of top corner finishes led to Wilmslow taking control of the scoreboard after the break.

Park men's thirds secured a 5-4 win against Knutsford after coming from 2-0 behind.

Liam Mckee struck twice to level matters ahead of the turnaround.

Park stayed in control in the second half with Mckee grabbing his third with a penalty flick.

Jonathan Fowler finished off a fabulous team goal which started in defence.

Mckee grabbed his fourth before Knutsford rallied with two late efforts.

Defenders Mark Whalley and Sam Cowhig were joint winners of the man-of-the-match honour.

Park lie joint second with two games to go.
