A MAN was taken to hospital after being found with head injuries at a Northwich underpass.

Police officers on patrol in the town centre came across the man beneath Chester Way at about 5.40am on Sunday, March 13.

Paramedics were called to the incident and a police cordon was put in place until the scene could be cleaned by the council.

Officers spoke to the man who said he'd fallen and that no-one else was involved in the incident.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At around 5.40am on Sunday, March 13, officers on patrol in Northwich town centre discovered a man with head injuries in the Chester Way underpass.

"The 56-year-old local man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

"The man was spoken to by officers and stated that he had fallen and there were no other people involved."
