A FOLK band named after a former Spanish international footballer are heading to play in Davenham.

English indie folk trio Ivan Campo, named after the former Real Madrid and Bolton Wanderers defender, will pay a visit to Davenham Theatre on Monday, March 28.

The band met in the city of Preston whilst studying contemporary music at the University of Central Lancashire and have been touring the UK/Europe for many years, playing tunes from their extensive back catalogue of albums.

Their last album – Season of the King – secured the band a fourth live session with BBC 6 Music as well as a live appearance on prime time Spanish TV programme Late Motiv.

Whilst their latest track 'The Girl Who Dreamed', with its light and uplifting aesthetic that combines wistful guitar hooks and sweeping vocals, is the first of a string of songs planned for release leading up to their highly anticipated tenth album.

Opening the night will be Greg Oldfield, the popular Widnes-born singer songwriter who has played venues around the North West and beyond.

Greg was previously in Great and Lady Soul, releasing several singles on Virgin Records. He is known for lyrics that often refer to his home town and was a member of the Smoking Dragons project, writing much of the music.

Advance tickets are £10 and it will cost you £15 on the door.

Doors open at 7.30pm, before the show starts at 8pm.
