THE horrific case of a man being convicted of the manslaughter of a baby girl in Northwich was the most serious Mid-Cheshire case to be heard in court in the past seven days. 

But away from this, there have been other defendants called to the dock.

Here is a round-up of some of the Cheshire defendants to appear in court over the past week:

A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been found guilty of manslaughter after a baby girl from Northwich died from a ‘catastrophic’ brain injury.

Brandon Mark Heath, currently residing in HMP Altcourse, has been on trial in Chester Crown Court since February 7, charged with, and pleading not guilty, to murdering the 22-month-old child.

After seven-and-a-half hours of deliberation, the jury has found him not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter.

A 38-YEAR-OLD man who was found to be growing cannabis at his home in Northwich has avoided an immediate prison sentence.

On June 16, 2021, Noel Gallagher, of Solvay Road in Northwich, was found to be growing 24 cannabis plants at his address.

He appeared in Chester Crown Court on March 2 was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

A MAN has been hit with a 12-month driving ban after being caught behind the wheel while high on cocaine.

Police stopped David McElligott while he was driving his Audi A3 on the A556 through Davenham on September 4, 2021.

The 45-year-old, of Granville Square, Winsford, was found to have 44µg/L of cocaine in his blood – more than four times the legal limit of 10µg/L.

A DRIVER who was almost four times over the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road.

Caroline Farrand, of Edenfield Close, Mobberley, admitted having 129 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at Stockport Magistrates Court on March 2.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millitres of breath.
