THE seven-day Covid case rates in Cheshire West and Cheshire East have dropped by about half in the last two weeks.

On February 10, the rates in both boroughs were north of 800 per 100,000 of the population.

But following the latest daily update, both rates are just more than 400.

According to the latest figures, there were 141 new cases in Cheshire West in the latest 24-hour period, giving a total of 1,463 in the last week.

This means the borough's seven-day rate now stands at 425.5.

A total of 214 people tested positive in Cheshire East between 4pm yesterday and 4pm today, making 1,796 in the last seven days.

The borough's rate now stands at 464.5.

There were 38,409 new cases across the UK in the latest update, which comes after Boris Johnson announced all Covid restrictions in England would come to an end in a process starting this week.
