A NORTHWICH man has been banned from the roads after being caught almost twice the drink-drive limit for alcohol.
James Monaghan, of Sydney Street, was driving a Volkswagen Scirocco when he was pulled over on Beach Road, Northwich, on January 23 earlier this year.
The 32-year-old was breathalysed and it was found he had consumed so much alcohol there was 68 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of his breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Monaghan pleaded guilty to drink driving at Chester Magistrates Court on February 18.
Taking into account his guilty plea, magistrates fined him £200 and disqualified him from driving for 18 months, however this will be reduced should he complete a drink-drive rehabilitation course.
Magistrates also ordered Monaghan to pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85 and a surcharge for victim services of £34.
