POLICE are investigating an arson attack at a disused building.
Firefighters were called to an empty barn near Acorn Childcare Nursery on Greenbank Lane in Hartford, shortly before 8pm on Sunday.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet put out the fire.
The area was then damped down and police called to attend.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire is believed to have been started deliberately."
Three fire engines from Northwich, Winsford and Runcorn dealt with the incident.
One eyewitness said that firefighters had to cut the gates near to the former Mid Cheshire College to enter.
