A DRUG driver and a man caught carrying a knife are among some of the Mid Cheshire defendants to appear in court this week.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man has been banned from the roads after he was caught drug driving in Northwich.

Simon Lightfoot, of Melchett Crescent in Rudheath, was driving on Central Road on September 29 while more than two times over the legal limit for Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (a cannabinoid).

He was also found in possession of cannabis.

A MAN has avoided an immediate prison sentence after carrying a knife in Northwich.

Jonathan Wakeling, of Swanlow Lane in Winsford, was found in possession of a ‘large knife, without good reason or lawful authority’ on January 23 along the A556 in Davenham.

The 24-year-old appeared in Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 14, to be sentenced for the offence.

AFTER failing to provide a specimen to police when asked, a 60-year-old has appeared in court.

Jacqui Kenyon, of Rydal Close in Winsford, was sentenced at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 16.

The court heard how, on May 27 in Middlewich, when suspected of having driven a vehicle and having been required to provide a specimen, failed without reasonable excuse to do so.

Kenyon also failed, without reasonable cause, to surrender at Crewe Magistrates’ Court having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on February 15.

She was handed a 16-week curfew and was disqualified from driving for 36 months.

A PASSENGER who failed to pay a £6.50 train fare has been hit with a £400 court bill.

Thomas Holder, 19, of Oakwood Avenue, Wilmslow, was unable to produce a valid ticket or a promise to pay notice when asked by an inspector on August 20, last year, Manchester Magistrates Court has heard.

The defendant was travelling between Handforth and Manchester Piccadilly, the court was told on January 14.

A VANDAL has admitted punching a hanging plant in Knutsford while serving punishment for assaulting a woman.

Samuel Arrowsmith, 23, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Chester Magistrates Court to intending to destroy or damage the property at Meadow Drive on February 12, this year.

The defendant also admitted being in possession of a quantity of cannabis on the same day.
