The seven-day Covid case rates in Cheshire West and Cheshire East have dropped significantly in less than a week.

On February 10, the rates for both boroughs were north of 800 per 100,000.

But, according to the latest figures released by Public Health England, those rates have reduced considerably.

The rate in Cheshire West is now 610.8 after 255 new cases were recorded between 4pm yesterday and 4pm today.

This means a total of 2,100 people in the borough tested positive in the last week.

In Cheshire East, the rate has dropped to 575.4 after 285 new cases were recorded over the same period.

There were 2,225 residents in the borough testing positive in the last seven days.

Both seven-day case rates are now below the national average for the UK (614.2).
