NOW the weather is getting milder, it’s the perfect time to explore the nature attractions and parks across Cheshire and Chester.

Our region is an amazing place to explore, with fantastic walks, stunning views, and plenty on offer for the whole family.

Here is a handy list of the top-rated nature attractions and parks in Cheshire according to Tripadvisor:

Chester Zoo, Chester​

The popular attraction is sure to be in the list, with 20,000 animals and 128 acres to explore.

It’s no wonder it says it’s the most visited zoo in the UK.

Walton Hall and Gardens, Warrington

This is the former home and gardens of Lord and Lady Daresbury, set within acres of parkland.

There is a playground, children’s zoo, café, alpaca walks and lots more.

Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Malpas

The castle was built in the early 19th century and is surround by historic parkland and 70 acres of beautiful gardens.

It also plays host to various events throughout the year.

Tegg’s Nose Country Park, Macclesfield

This is a popular area for walking with stunning views of the park and across the Cheshire plain.

Cycling and horse riding are popular in the area, along with fishing and rock climbing.

Gauntlet Birds of Prey, Knutsford

Established in 1996, the park is home to more 180 birds from 50 different species – the largest collection in the north west.

You can meet the birds and even watch flying demonstrations.

River Dee, Chester

On the bank of the river in Chester is the 'Groves', a paved promenade with bandstand, cafés, restaurants and public houses.

You can take a stroll along the riverbank or hire a motorboat, rowing boat or pedalo.

Tatton Park, Knutsford

The park has 1,000 acres of parkland, with wild deer.

There are also gardens, a farm with rare breed animals and seasonal demonstrations.

Arley Hall and Gardens, Northwich

Arley Hall is one of the most attractive stately homes in the north west and has some of the finest gardens.

There is lots to entertain families for a fun day out and it was even used as a filming location for Peaky Blinders!

Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden, Warrington

The walled garden consists of the fully working kitchen garden and the ornamental pleasure garden.

The site also includes eight fully refurbished Victorian glasshouses, several outbuildings, three ponds and a café.

Delamere Forest, Northwich

It is accessible by its very own train station, you’ll find easy-going trails for all abilities.

If you would rather get a bird’s eye view of the forest, you can have a go at Go Ape, or Segway hire is available.
