MANCHESTER United legend Norman Whiteside travelled to Northwich for a ‘makeover’ at a popular barbershop.
Twin brothers Ilham and Turan Begde, who have more than 27 years of experience, recently opened the doors to Ilham's Barbers, Children’s Salon and Sunbeds in Winnington.
With two popular salons already established in Padgate and Stockton Heath in Warrington, the newest addition at Unit 2, 41 Walker Road, is the pair's third venture.
Through Ilham's experience and word-of-mouth, he has already had many celebrities in his barber chair – and footballing legend Norman Whiteside is the latest to experience his talents.
Norman was given the full works on top of his hair cut, including a nose and ear wax, face mask and eyebrow threading.
He said: “It was fantastic, I’ve had a makeover!
“I’ve never had wax up my nose and ears before, it was so detailed.”
And Norman is no stranger to the town.
He spent five months as assistant manager and physio of Northwich Victoria in the early 1990s, and residents came down to Ilham's for photographs and autographs.
Speaking of his time with the club, he said: “It was a very friendly little club and where I lived it was only 20 minutes away.
“It’s a very friendly town too, a family town, and wherever you went, people were always friendly.”
But it's not only celebrities who are well-catered for at Ilham’s Barbers.
It is a specialist children’s salon with iPads and toys in a child-friendly area.
Children's characters cover the walls and offer a relaxing experience.
Ilham has also been awarded a certificate of appreciation for disabilities to cater for all needs.
Speaking about how business has been since the barbers first opened, Ilham said: “It’s been really great.
“People are really happy about our services because we’re a different kind of barbers.
“I’ve also had a lot of followers who have come here after having their hair cut in the other branches.”
