VIBRANT Thai food bursting with exotic ingredients will soon be served in a new Cheshire restaurant.

Giggling Squid, which prides itself on guests leaving 'feeling full and happy', is coming to Alderley Edge in late spring.

Husband and wife Andy and Pranee Laurillard created the concept to bring the authentic buzz of enjoying Thai food together to the UK 20 years ago.

Andy said: "Thai mealtimes are energetic, informal, adventurous and where food is celebrated.

"It's relaxed and there's no standing on ceremony.

"We simply want people to have a great time over something tasty.

"Every Giggling Squid has its own personal touch to it and this restaurant's no different. It's a beautifully designed space that we hope will bring a lot of pleasure to our guests.

"We can't wait to welcome everyone to Alderley Edge."

The name of the restaurant was inspired by their family.

Thailand-born Pranee said: "It was the nickname of one of our kids. He's not too keen on being called it now, surprisingly."

The menu includes dishes such as turmeric grilled squid sprinkled with crunchy fried Thai garlic cloves and mussels in a rich, red curry broth, garnished with Thai shallots, sliced lime leaves and basil and yummy duck spring rolls.

The two-storey restaurant in London Road has a stylish terrace area for al fresco dining.

Inside, there is an open staircase and bright, colourful wallpaper, with a gazebo decorated with eye-catching floral designs.

Downstairs, comfortable banquettes – curved cushioned seating – will enhance the ethos of Thai mealtimes, encouraging people to share dishes with relatives and friends.

Rooted from the 'land of smiles' and with positivity in its name and nature, Giggling Squid's entire ethos is centred on guests leaving their restaurants feeling full and happy.

The restaurant will open from 12 noon to 10pm Monday to Thursday, 12 noon to 10.30pm on Saturday and 12 noon to 9.30pm on Sunday.

A takeaway menu will be available a few weeks after the restaurant opens.
