A TEENAGER has been sentenced for possessing indecent images – including of children and of sexual activity with a corpse.

Kyle Niblett, 19, of Mere Crescent in Oakmere, Northwich, was found with a variety of indecent images when police, acting on intelligence, carried out a search warrant at his address in 2019.

Appearing in Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 28, the prosecution said Niblett was just 17 when he was arrested and told police ‘he needed help’.

Niblett previously pleaded guilty to possessing one category B indecent image of a child and 48 category C indecent images of children between 2013 and 2019.

Niblett also pleaded guilty to having three prohibited images of a child between 2016 and 2019 and possessing an extreme pornographic image that portrayed ‘sexual interference with a corpse which was grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character, and a reasonable person looking at the image would think that any such person was real’.

The teenager has no previous convictions and his defence solicitor told the court ‘he was a child himself’ when he was found in possession of the images.

He added there has been no incidents since and he has taken full responsibility.

Sentencing, magistrates said Niblett was of a low risk of reoffending and took into account his early guilty plea and young age.

He was sentenced to a two-year community order, with 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 26 sessions of a rehabilitative programme.
