THE Weaverham Wombles are calling on the help of residents to give the village its first spruce of the year.

Having organised several clean ups over the years, The Weaverham Trust and the team are back on Saturday, January 29 for a winter litter blitz.

This event is for the whole family – furry friends, toddlers, teenagers – everyone, with the only proviso being that children must be supervised.

Arrangements are for everyone wishing to take part to meet on Russet Road next to Weaverham Library for a 10.30am start.

Catherine Gregory of the Trust said: "If you can only spare an hour they’ll be a route for you.

"Disinfected litter picks, hi-viz vests and bin bags will be provided.

"Please bring your own gloves, disposable gloves will be available on request.

"All equipment is sanitised and anti-bacterial spray and hand sanitisers will be available on the day.

"Your village needs you."

You can register your interest in taking part or highlight any areas that need attention at The Weaverham Trust Facebook page.
