CAMPAIGNERS trying to save a historic pub from being lost forever want help from the public promoting their cause.

A community effort to save the Holly Bush in Little Leigh is geared towards buying the pub and turning into a multi-use venue that will be of benefit to all.

After the pub announced its closure last year, a concerted effort to keep it from being consigned to the history books began almost immediately.

Simon Appleton, a local brewer who lives in the village, is one of those heavily involved in trying to save it for future generations.

He said the next stage of the campaign is to get as many leaflets sent out as possible, in a bid to make sure those that want to help, are in a position to.

"We are just starting a major leaflet distribution to get the word out further afield and hope to be able to fund a Royal Mail mailshot soon," he said.

"The leaflets will also encourage people to complete a survey we published in December.

"The more surveys and pledges the better.

"Once we have enough pledges, we will be able to move to the stage of share offers and negotiating the purchase.

"This is definitely do-able."

The survey is designed for the campaigners to help understand what people in the community want from the pub going forwards.
