A VALENTINE'S date with a difference awaits one lucky Vale Royal couple if they can show their love for the planet.

The Guardian has teamed up with Vale Royal Borough Council to offer our readers the luxury low carbon love date of a lifetime this February.

A whole host of eco-friendly fun will be provided for the winning couple on the date, which will be tailor-made for them.

See our video explaining some of your choices by clicking the link below You could be whisked off to a scrumptious feast at a restaurant specialising in local produce and then enjoy a romantic stroll, or high energy bike ride, through Vale Royal's beautiful countryside.

This could be followed up by a cosy night in with a hamper packed full of goodies from one of the area's well-stocked farm shops.

You can rest assured that your mode of transport for the day will be unique and, above all, green - whether it be a horse and carriage, tandem or a low carbon car.

As long as the date is made up of eco-friendly Valentine alternatives it really will be up to you to design your dream date with the help of climate change experts from Vale Royal Borough Council.

All you have to do is tell us what you or your partner have done to show your love for the planet and why you deserve a romantic treat.

So, whether you car share, share your bath water, have filled your house with energy saving light bulbs or spread the eco-friendly message around your office, family and friends, you could be in with a chance.

The key is that little changes make a big impact on climate change so tell us what you do, however small you think it is.

The competition is part of the borough council's climate change awareness campaign Little Actions Big Impact'.

It's the thought that counts - try making your own Valentine's card to show you're really thinking about them.

Pot-plants or seed love tokens will show how your love is growing.

Love trees? You can dedicate a tree or even a hectare of woodland to your loved one.

A hand-written love letter, a stroll in the moonlight, or even a special dedication at the local karaoke will create memories for a lifetime, no need to buy their love.
