WITTON Albion's search for their first win in the Northern Premier League since October continues.

They fell to a late goal at Mickleover Sports on Saturday as the hosts ran out victorious 2-1, leaving the Northwich side without a win in their past seven outings.

Mickleover went in front after 23 minutes when Shaquille McDonald beat keeper Greg Hall by finding the top corner with a strike from the edge of the penalty box.

Centre half Rob Hopley was the man to level matters for Witton in the 64th minute but the Derbyshire outfit nicked it at the death.

Callum Niven, who came on to replace opening scorer McDonald two minutes earlier, netted the winner with 88 minutes on the clock at the Don Amott Arena.

Carl Macauley's men face the long trip to the north east on Tuesday to face South Shields.

Meanwhile, 1874 ended their winless streak with a glut of second-half goals at Colne.

All four goals came in the second half and they kept a clean sheet for the first time since November.

Matt Woolley netted twice from the penalty spot, with both opportunities arising from Sam Hare being fouled.

His first and third spot kick successes in the 53rd and 68th minutes sandwiched a Jamie Reed effort when he got on the end of a fine Joe Woolley cross.

Taylor Kennerley wrapped things up at the XLCR Stadium with a smart finish in the 80th minute, handing 74 a first win in six outings.

They should be in fine mood for hosting Prescot Cables at Townfield next Saturday.

Northwich Victoria left it late to secure a home win against Litherland REMYCA at the U Lock It Stadium and survived a late scare in the North West Counties League Premier Division tussle.

Luke Sephton, who saw a deflected shot hit the post in the 53rd minute, buried a loose ball from a corner in the 87th minute to snatch a 1-0 success.

The visitors were unlucky in added time when a whopping shot from distance smashed on to the crossbar and over.

Vics are away to Ashton Athletic on Tuesday.

Barnton also crashed in four goals while conceding only once in their home clash with Rocester at Townfield.

Jordan Monthe was on target twice in the Division One South affair, with Tom Edwards and Liam Kennington also netting.
