FAMILIES are being invited to a day of Christmas celebrations at a Cheshire industrial heritage museum.
Northwich's Lion Salt Works Museum is opening its doors to visitors on December 11 for a range of festive events.
This includes a peformance from the Rivendell Choir, several craft activities for children and the chance to see Santa Claus.
Most events on the day are free, except if visitors want to visit the museum (open from 10.30am to 4pm). A trip to see Santa is £2, but each child receives a gift.
Christmas shoppers can enjoy browsing in the museum’s well-stocked shop which features gifts such as contemporary jewellery, bags, books and some special items made from rock salt.
The museum’s café offers light refreshments, including its Christmas speciality Winter Gingerbread latte.
The cafe is located overlooking the imaginatively-themed play area, giving adults a chance to have a coffee while the youngsters play.
Councillor Louise Gittins, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “The museum is committed to providing a Covid-safe environment but retaining the joy and festive spirit of this wonderful time of year.
"Carol singers and crafts, some present ideas and a chance for children to meet Santa.”
Facemasks are mandatory at the event and visitors are advised to take and have a negative lateral flow test 24 hours prior to attending.
Downloading and logging vaccination status on the NHS app is also advised.
Santa Claus will be spreading Christmas joy between noon and 3pm, while the carol singers will begin at 12.15pm.
