A NORTHWICH schoolboy has completed a marathon effort to raise money for the homeless.

Seven-year-old Harry Kettle, who lives with his mum and dad in Davenham, was so moved by the plight of people living on the streets, he wanted to do something to help.

The youngster decided to run a marathon distance throughout the month of November and raise as much money as he could for homeless charity Shelter.

Running a mile every day, the Davenham Primary School pupil has braved the wind, rain and dark nights to raise over £1000.

Speaking to the Guardian, his mum Becci said how proud she was of her kind hearted son.

"We are beyond proud of Harry," she enthused.

"He has run 26 miles in November to raise money for Shelter, in between after school clubs, swimming and despite dark and rainy nights.

"His motivation and empathy for others has been incredible.

"He planned on raising £100 and he has raised over £1000.

"He is so pleased that he set a challenge and saw it through to the end, and would love to do more for charity next year.

"We love him so much and think he is an inspiration to everyone."

Harry was joined by his parents and some his school friends in completing each of the mile long runs, and could even count on the support of the nation's favourite PE teacher, Joe Wicks.

He completed his final run on Sunday, November 28 - finishing with a flourish, running two miles before the snow arrived.
