WHEN Callum Saunders went through on goal just before the hour mark on Saturday, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Witton Albion have been able to count on their red-hot striker since he joined from Nantwich Town and now, he has a club record to his name.

By netting for a ninth consecutive league game on Saturday, he broke a record that had stood for 75 years having previously been held by George Stubbs, who scored in eight straight league matches when the club was in the Cheshire League back in 1946.

As with any predatory striker, however, Saunders is keen for more as he eyes up the English record.

That honour is currently held by Jody Banim, who incredibly scored in 14 consecutive league games for Radcliffe Borough back in the 2003-04 season.
