THE town's MP has taken the issue of Northwich train station all the way to the Commons.
Having been told by the Transport Secretary last week the station will not be made accessible to all when it is rebuilt, Mike Amesbury took the case direectly to the door of the Prime Minister.
During PMQs on Wednesday, November 17, the Weaver Vale MP asked Boris Johnson if he would intervene in the matter.
He asked: "In May, part of Northwich station, in my constiuency, collapsed.
"I've asked the Transport Secretary to intervene and 'Build Back Better' and fairer and to allow access for people with disabilities.
"He's declined my kind offer.
"I'll ask the Prime Minister to intervene.
"No bluster, substance, build back better and fairer, Northwich station.
"It's in the north of England."
In response to his question, Boris Johnson invited him to wait for news on Government funding for rail, which is due tomorrow (Thursday).
He said: "I'm tempted to invite the Honourable Gentleman to wait and see on what we do for rail funding tmorrow.
"I'll certainly look what he has to say about Northwich station with keen interest."
If the Prime Minister is genuine about levelling up, then why not build back Northwich Station, better and fairer than before, with access for disabled people?
