A VETERINARY surgery in Northwich has celebrated 10 years of caring for the community's pets.

Patrick Murphy opened the practice in October 2011, with the aim of opening a friendly surgery where staff treated animals as they would their own.

"Having worked in the Northwich area, I had a number of friends who requested I continued to take care of their pets," Patrick said.

"The opportunity arose to open in Lostock Gralam and 10 years has flown by.

"I like to say we offer a common sense approach to modern veterinary medicine.

"Since a very early age watching James Herriott on TV, being a vet developed into my passion.

"During the first 10 years of being a vet I studied for my small animal surgical certificate and since then I have concentrated on cat and dog medicine.

"Many people in Northwich had felt seeing the same vet each time they went to their vet was important, so our aim at Northwich Vets is to offer a small family-style practice where this is possible – treating your animals as our own."

Northwich Vets offers a range of services from its practice on Manchester Road, such as vaccinations, micro-chipping, worm/flea control and dentistry, as well as routine and non routine surgeries.

Patrick said out of the past 10 years, his favourite moments are still sending an animal home to their family safe and well.

He said: "The practice has developed more than I ever imagined to be honest, and I'm grateful to every one of our fantastic clients who have made it possible.

"Over the years I have also gathered some brilliant colleagues, all of whom I would trust to treat my own pets.

"We've turned into an extended family and it's a joy to work with each and every one of them.

"There have been so many stand out moments, it's too hard to choose.

"To be honest I still get the biggest satisfaction from sending a poorly animal home, safe and well with their owner.

"And also being there for clients during the difficult times when they need us most."
