A RUDHEATH historian has used his skills to identify the players in this picture of the 1908/9 Manchester United Team the Guardian carried last month.
The team is pictured standing outside the Bluecap pub in Sandiway, and 70-year-old Ron Newton was determined to put names to faces.
The Gadbrook Road resident said: "As a historian a picture without information calls for immediate research.
"I put an advert in the Manchester Evening News in the hope of finding fans of the club who might be able to help, and also contacted Manchester United Museum Services who were wonderful and helped me put all the peices together."
Robert Hughes (thought to be landlord), George Stacey, Tom Wilcox, Harold Hulse, Harry Moger, Charlie Roberts, J Ernest Magnall (secretary and manager), Vince Hayes, Billy Meredith, Sandy Turnbull, Jack Pickin, James Turnbull, Alex Bell, Dick Duckworth, George Wall, Fred Bacon (Trainer).
