WITTON Albion are out of this season's FA Trophy.

They were knocked out 2-1 at home to Lancaster City in the third qualifying round on Saturday.

Carl Macauley's men will feel a little hard done by concerning the Dolly Blues' winning goal in the 73rd minute.

They had a huge shout for a penalty ignored and Lancaster broke away to score on the counter through Charlie Bailey.

Witton had fought their way back into the game with form striker Callum Saunders netting his 10th goal of the season in the 44th minute.

He jumped on to a ball threaded through by James Lawrie to level matters for half-time.

The visitors, who also won at the U Lock It Stadium in August, had gone ahead in the 28th minute when Ben Hudson headed home from a corner.

Tom Owens entered play as a replacement for Danny McKenna in the 84th minute to mark his 200th appearance in the red and white stripes.

Meanwhile, Northwich Victoria returned from Squires Gate with a 1-1 draw in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
