A PAIR of Knutsford gymnasts have qualified for the British Championships in November.

Yasmin McNicholas, 16, and Charlotte Mills, 11, finished first in the acrobatic gymnastics north west prelims earlier this month.

The girls, who train at Gymfinity Gymnastics, competed in the discipline where groups perform figures consisting of athletic moves, dance and tumbling.

Their success qualifies them to take part in the British Championships in Stoke.

Northwich Guardian:

After a Covid-19 stricken 18 months, which saw them partake in virtual training and spend many periods in isolation, the girls have recently been able to return to the facility on Westfield Drive, where they train up to 12 hours a week.

Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College student Yasmin and Charlotte, who studies at St Nicholas Catholic High School in Northwich have been partners for the past three years, but this was their first competition since 2019.

Gymfinity Gymnastics, which was awarded ‘Sports Club of The Year’ in 2017 by Cheshire County Council, have taught both girls for over seven years and were overawed with the duo’s success.

Head coach of acrobatics, Sophie Mills, said: “These two girls have shown the utmost dedication and commitment to each other after the most challenging 18 months.

“We are so proud of their progress and can’t wait to see them at the British finals.”
