WITTON Albion will head into Saturday’s FA Trophy third qualifying round home tie against Lancaster City in great spirits.

It follows a 2-0 league win at U Lock It Stadium against Atherton Collieries on Tuesday when former Nantwich Town frontman Callum Saunders improved his impressive goal-scoring record.

The 26-year-old son of former Wales international striker Dean Saunders notched for a club record seventh consecutive Northern Premier League clash to seal the win.

His ninth goal in 13 games in the 83rd minute followed Jay Foley’s 56th-minute opener, handing Witton a result that moves them up to 12th on the ladder.
