THESE are the latest Covid-19 case numbers across Mid Cheshire.

The figures show 312 new cases were recorded in Cheshire West and Chester in the 24 hours up to 4pm today, with 416 cases recorded in Cheshire East.

This is compared to 261 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 334 cases in Cheshire East in the previous 24-hour period.

The latest update means there have now been 1,625 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 472.6 per 100,000 people.

There have been 2,265 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough’s seven-day case rate is now 585.8 per 100,000.

Case rates in England are continuing to rise in all age groups, the UK Health Security Agency said.

The highest rate is among 10 to 19-year-olds, with 1,120.8 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to October 10, up week-on-week from 1,061.8.

The second highest rate is among five to nine-year-olds, up from 484.2 to 574.2.

For both age groups this is the highest weekly rate since this data was first collected in October 2020.

The lowest rate is among people aged 80 and over, at 110.8, up from 90.2.

The Government said a further 157 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 138,237.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 163,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 45,066 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.
